This May, the TeachTek team joined the xTEK Network and the Department for Education South Australia at the 2025 Adelaide Careers & Employment Expo.
Part of the Department’s Career Pathways Program, the event brought together students, educators and industry professionals to explore hands-on learning, career opportunities and real-world uses of technology across a range of industries.
Putting Tech Front and Centre
TeachTek was on the ground showcasing how smart infrastructure and immersive tools are already being used in schools and beyond.
Our stand featured:
LED displays and signage systems: Demonstrating how digital screens support communication across campuses and workplaces.
Control room setups and conferencing systems: Offering a look into the kinds of environments used in broadcast, coordination and collaboration across sectors.
RealityTEK VR demos: Easily one of the most popular elements. Dozens of students tried out virtual environments designed for training, simulation and learning.
Students Led the Way
Over 400 students visited the stand across two days. Many jumped into the demos, asked thoughtful questions and spent time with professionals from across the xTEK Network. The VR station had strong pull, but so did the conversations happening around it.
Students told us they enjoyed:
Learning about jobs in health, trades, defence and aged care
Hearing directly from professionals about different career paths
Connecting their own interests, whether that was space, performance or mining, with real opportunities
Seeing how wide-ranging and relevant tech is in everyday work
One student said:“I didn’t expect this expo to be so informative. When I came here, I realised just how many opportunities there were for me.”
Linking Tech to Career Paths
The expo gave students a clear look at how the tools they use at school already play a role in real workplaces. Whether they were exploring digital signage or stepping into a virtual environment, the tech on display helped start conversations about skills, careers and what comes next.
TeachTek is proud to be part of that. By showing what’s already possible in the classroom, we’re helping young people explore the paths ahead.
A Shared Effort
Events like this work best when there’s strong support around them. Students, educators and professionals all played a role in making the expo engaging and useful. Conversations sparked curiosity. Questions led to real insights. And for many students, the experience helped put future careers into clearer focus.
