The 2025 School Library Association of South Australia (SLASA) Conference brought library professionals together in Adelaide for two days of ideas, discussion and hands-on learning.
Held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel, this year’s theme “Choose Your Own Adventure” invited attendees to explore everything from AI and academic integrity to 3D printing and redesigning library spaces.
Chapter One: The AV Encounter
“You walk into the trade hall. Do you: A) Turn left toward the pastries, or B) Get distracted by a glowing screen and giveaways at the TeachTEK stand?”
TeachTEK was proud to support this year’s conference as a GOLD sponsor, alongside a strong line-up of education suppliers and sector leaders. At our trade stand, we showcased an interactive Philips display and Aurora Postar LED, speaking with attendees about practical AV upgrades tailored to school libraries.
We had plenty of meaningful chats with library staff and educators looking to improve engagement, simplify tech use, and create more consistent digital experiences across their schools. We also brought along VR headsets, which sparked conversations about student-driven exploration and immersive literacy programs.

Mr Luke Enters the Story
One of our favourite side quests? A book giveaway featuring Mr Luke, the Adelaide teacher and author whose stories have built a big following on TikTok.
His books are imaginative, funny and full of colour. Ten schools walked away with two new additions to their shelves and a chance to introduce students to a voice they may already know online.
Shared Stories and Big Questions
SLASA’s program didn’t shy away from the big topics. Dr Kay Oddone opened the conference with a keynote on preparing students for the future by fostering critical literacies in a changing information landscape. Her session unpacked the role of school libraries in helping students evaluate and use generative AI tools responsibly.
Other standout sessions included:
Redesigning Library Spaces (Lisa Preston and Louise Eldridge)
Genrefying Your Collections (Di Scott)
3D Printing and Makerspace Programs (Hajnalka Molloy)
Creating Social Media Content for Libraries (Jasmine Argent)
To close out the conference, Dr Matt Agnew delivered a keynote on “AI-Ready Kids,” drawing from his background in science communication to talk about preparing students for an AI-integrated future.
End of Chapter, Not the Story
Whether attending a session, testing out new tools at the trade tables or reconnecting with colleagues, the 2025 SLASA Conference was a welcome opportunity to focus on what’s working in school libraries, and where things are headed next.
Teach TEK was proud to be part of the event and thanks SLASA for putting together such a thoughtful and engaging program. We’re looking forward to more conversations ahead, and more opportunities to support schools with the right tools, support and AV setups that make sense in real-world classrooms.
