The 2024 South Australian Area School Leaders Association (SAASLA) Conference, held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Adelaide in September, brought together leaders from South Australia’s 48 area schools. TeachTEK was proud to be back again sponsoring this year’s event, embracing the theme Thrive in the Country! and standing alongside the incredible educators shaping rural education.

A Conference Full of Connection and Innovation

The SAASLA Conference was all about big ideas, real connections, and practical solutions. Across two days, we had the chance to meet passionate school leaders, dedicated teachers, and inspiring students. All committed to strengthening education in regional SA. A few standout moments:

Keynote Speaker Mike House:

A survival instructor, speaker, and facilitator from WA, Mike had the room hooked with his insights on building resilience under pressure, something every school leader knows a thing or two about.

Connecting with SA’s 48 Area Schools:

With school leaders from across the state, the conference was a chance to swap stories, discuss challenges, and share what’s working in their communities.

Meeting the 2024 SA Rural Youth Ambassadors: Easily one of the highlights of the event! These students brought fresh energy and big ideas, showing just how committed the next generation is to improving education in rural SA.

Troy Introduced TeachTEK: Our CEO, Troy, took to the stage to introduce TeachTEK, sharing our mission and commitment to supporting schools with practical, high-quality AV solutions that make a real difference in the classroom.

Bringing AV Tech to Life

This year, we unveiled our custom TeachTEK event stand, and we have to say—the team nailed it. It wasn’t just about looking good (though it definitely did!); it was about showcasing solutions that make a difference in real classrooms. Here’s what we had on display: Philips E-Line 75” interactive display running Vivi, Philips D-Line 43” signage display running Fusion, Aurora LED Display running Fusion Signage, and ClassVR Headsets.

A Bit of Extra Fun: The SAASLA Giveaway

Of course, no conference is complete without a little extra excitement. This year, we gave away a Philips fully automatic espresso machine to one lucky school, because let’s be honest, coffee is the real MVP of education.

Greg Hackett from Minlaton District School was the lucky winner, and we’re pretty sure his staff are quite happy with him!

Looking Ahead to 2025

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, including Beth Hector from Moonta Area School and Margaret Roads from Ardrossan Area School. The conversations we had throughout the event reinforced why we do what we do, delivering technology that actually works for rural schools.

We’re already looking forward to sponsoring SAASLA again in 2025. Until then, we’ll keep doing what we do best, bringing practical, innovative AV solutions to the schools that need them most. See you next year!
